As a software professional with five years of experience, I found myself at a crossroads in 2021 when I decided to take an extended maternity leave.
While I cherished the idea of dedicating time to my family, I also wanted to maintain a professional life and explore new opportunities.
That’s when my husband shared a LinkedIn post about the DCPP certification by DSCI. Having followed the organization for some time, I was aware of their commendable work in the privacy domain.
While exploring their LinkedIn profile, I came across the CyberShikshaa program and decided to apply for it.
As part of this course, we had a five-day virtual training organized by Tsaaro Academy. Their trainers took extra effort to help us understand the concepts.
I was impressed with the course module. It was detailed enough to understand privacy concepts and privacy regulations around the world. It also gave us a fair understanding of privacy-enhancing tools and technologies.
The best part about the program was that it gave us access to a support group of fellow women who had been on a career break and wanted to restart their careers.
It felt like I was not alone in this journey and that there were others too who were trying as hard as I was.
We had regular group calls to discuss the course material, and sometimes we chatted just to support one another.
My mom was there to take care of my child so that I could put extra effort into understanding the concepts. Luckily, I cleared my exam on the first attempt.
A few weeks later, I landed a position at EY as a consultant.
It’s been six months now into my journey in data privacy.
To all the women out there, I want to say: get all the help that you can, delegate your household chores, and don’t lose hope. Perseverance is the key to starting the next chapter!
