The four years of engineering flew by quickly, and I landed a job as a system engineer in an IT company. Things were going well, but my confirmation letter kept getting delayed. What was supposed to be a few weeks of wait turned into months of waiting.
To make the most of my time, I started searching for cyber security courses online. I knew the basics of the subject since I attended a workshop on cyber security in my college.
Within minutes of Google search, I found CyberShikshaa's website. I was a perfect fit for the eligibility criteria, so I decided to enroll for the program.
All this while, I was still hoping for my long-awaited offer letter, but it never arrived in my mailbox.
My mentor at CyberShikshaa could sense that I was feeling a little low in classes for some reason. When I told him about my situation, he assured me that our careers in cyber security will never get affected by recession. At the speed of which technology is growing, there is always going to be a huge demand for us.
It really boosted my confidence, and I doubled down on my efforts towards my studies. The classes were really good. Each and every subject was discussed in so much detail. In no time I got a hang of cryptography, python programming and application security.
By some stroke of luck, I finished 2nd in my class.
All my efforts paid off when I received a call from the World Bank. They were offering me an internship as a Sock Analyst.
It was beyond anything I could have imagined achieving at the age of 21!
I've been working at the World Bank's Chennai office for just a week, and everything is going well.
For anybody who is stuck in their career, I just want to say that instead of waiting for things to happen, take charge and chase after what you want in life.
