Digital Payments are shaping the contours of new India, by providing citizens with new mediums to make payments electronically and be less dependent on cash. As India embarks on the path towards Digital India, it is imperative to move towards the widespread adoption of Digital Payments for a technologically advanced India.
Along with increasing adoption, it is important to draw attention of the consumers around safe and secure usage of Digital Payment platforms. In order to do that, the role of diverse ecosystem players becomes essential to orchestrate a collective action to enhance the confidence and trust of the consumers in the digital payment systems.
With this vision, Data Security Council of India in association with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Google India have crafted an awareness campaign 'Digital Payment Abhiyan' aimed at increasing adoption of Digital Payments and educate citizens on safety and security best practices of payment channels. The campaign is supported by diverse ecosystem partners ranging from banks, financial institutions, State Government, payment institutions, NBFCs, who will further amplify the campaign outreach and play a key role in reaching out to consumers.
Digital Payment Abhiyan is a multilingual pan India campaign in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada and Marathi attempting to engage with communities from Tier – II & III cities as well as urban population to spread awareness over digital payment benefits and its security aspects. Various payments channels such as UPI, Credit & Debit Card, Digital Wallet and Online & Mobile Banking have been chosen as the mediums to spread awareness. Over the year, several digital content artefacts like awareness films, posters, brochures will be developed and disseminated over digital broadcast mediums. In order to truly transform India into a cashless society, we believe Digital Payments should be imbibed like a habit - #DigitalPaymentHarBaar as they are #SaralAurSurakshit.
