In 2023, with a master's degree in Mathematics and Computing from Banaras Hindu University, I found myself in a tough spot—struggling to find a job despite my best efforts.
It was a challenging phase, filled with self-doubt and uncertainty about what lay ahead. During this time, I came across the Cybershikshaa program. I didn’t know much about cybersecurity, but something about the program sparked hope in me. So, I took the leap and joined the online batch in September 2023.
The Cybershikshaa AI/ML program was nothing short of transformative. The curriculum covered everything—from Python and statistics to machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision, all wrapped together with cybersecurity at its core. What stood out was the focus on hands-on learning through real-world projects. These projects weren’t just assignments; they became the building blocks of my confidence, which I had lost along the way.
Our daily classes were intense but rewarding. By the end of each day, doubt-clearing sessions ensured we were never left behind. Over time, what started as a group of strangers from different parts of the country became a family. Our mentors at Trisakha Foundation didn’t just teach—they nurtured us.
After six months, I received my first placement offer in Chennai. But life had other plans. Health issues forced me to turn it down—a decision that wasn’t easy, especially when I saw my peers stepping into their new roles. It was heartbreaking, but I knew prioritizing my health was necessary.
Even in that low phase, I held on to hope. Three months later, that hope bore fruit. I got a call for an interview with EXL. This time, I felt ready. The interview process was tough, but I stayed calm and gave it my all. A few weeks later, I got the call I had been waiting for—I was selected!
As I step into my role at EXL, I carry with me the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the knowledge that every setback is a setup for a comeback.
Here’s to new beginnings and never giving up on our dreams.
